Join the GrETEL Tutorial during 'De Week van het Nederlands'

CLARIAH is organizing an online tutorial in which participants can learn how to search for grammatical constructions of the Dutch language using query engine GrETEL.

De week van het Nederlands aims to highlight the Dutch language from all sides and will take place from 1 to 8 October 2022. During this week, multiple lectures, debates, perfomances and workshops on the Dutch language and its related topics will be given. One of the workshops will be an online tutorial of the CLARIAH resource GrETEL (Greedy Extraction of Trees for Empirical Linguistics).

GrETEL is a query engine in which linguists can use a natural language example as a starting point for searching a treebank with limited knowledge about tree representations and formal query languages. Instead of a formal search instruction, it takes a natural language example as input. By allowing linguists to search for constructions similar to the example they provide, it aims to bridge the gap between descriptive-theoretical and computational linguistics.

The tutorial, given in Dutch, will take place on 7 October from 14:00 to 17:00 and will consist of multiple short presentations explaining GrETEL. This will be followed by the opportunity for participants to work with the query engine themselves, during which a team of experts will be available for assistance.
